Shoe House: Codename SHIP

Hey guys,
Guess this is my first post in a long time......anyway...I've been thinking about the Shoe house..and I have a few thoughts:
1. First and foremost we need a very strong and bold concept, and the float should be designed around this concept and reflect it throughout...I think this is easier said than done, but then again the audience should be able to grasp the concept immediately when they see the float, even before the actual presentation. This concept would be a fairy-tale.

2. From what I've seen and heard, this time we are doing the story of the Old Woman and her Shoehouse....basically this is a fairytale, and as with all fairytales, a very important concept is magic, and wonder....basically we have to capture that magical, innocent child-like fantasy, when we see a Disney cartoon, that sense of delight and awe of seeing the Little Mermaid, Alladin and so on or those fairy tales from Enid-Blyton.....so how do we do that?

3. So, the main star of the show would be the Shoehouse itself....I was thinking that we should infuse the Shoehouse itself with magic i.e.: we need to bring it to life, and give it its own character. Hence there is a need for a lot of motion, the whole float itself should give the impression of being alive, for example,

1. The roof can lift up and twirl around

2. Windows opening and closing

3. Things popping out of aforesaid windows and doors

4. Shoehouse could have a face...for example the eyelets for shoelaces can form the eyes, and a big rip/tear near the front bottom of shoe can form mouth...opening and closing..to give several expressions

5. Old shoehouse can fall apart to reveal a brand new shoehouse, eg: A Nike sports shoe-house
(Jeffrey's idea-this could be our WOW factor)

6. Chimney for shoehouse (It is a house after all...with smoke coming out..)

7. Shoelaces tying and untying themselves..

8. Trees in the garden moving and shaking their branches

9. Bushes and plants moving about, rearranging themselves (OKAY...this is a bit far-fetched..but still no harm in trying..I'm just trying to brainstorm here.....maybe sow a few seeds for better ideas from everyone..)

10. Generally a lot, and I mean a lot, of motion.....basically everything should be doing something unusual, something it should not be doing in our real world.

4. Try to convey a sense of a homely kind of shoehouse..think of a traditional Old English Countryside house, with beautiful windows (Tudor style)..window boxes with plants in it...creeping ivy on the walls etc etc
Note: the pic of the left is not to say that we biuld a house..but rather look at the picture and try to grasp the concept that we are after, and try to apply to the float. Think Enid-Blyton.

My point?
Try to awe the audience as much as possible, turn on the special effects to maximum, make it a visual feast...think out of the box...imagine the impossible, imagine the unimaginable.
I think we have a really great idea going here, and I see enormous potential here..kudos to our designers, CE, ACE and Chair+Vice Chair!! U guys rock!
